The Network-of-Light of Guarujá, representing the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, made a donation of food to the Community-of-Light of Figueira during the month of September, when the 57th General Meeting took place. 344 kg (758 pounds) of food altogether were distributed in four different areas of the Community-of-Light and in two institutions of the town of Carmo da Cachoeira, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The donations were received from the program of the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil, which refers to charitable entities food of excellent quality called “Outcome of Samples”. The products are fetched at the Harbor of Santos. Since last July, the Network-of-Light has been conducting the task of distributing the donations in the community of Morrinhos Quatro, in Guarujá, city of the shore of the State of São Paulo, Brazil.
The food donated to the Community-of-Light of Figueira was taken from the Harbor of Santos on the 9th of Semptember and distributed on the 13th. It was 168 kg (370 pounds) of garlic, pears, nectarines, peaches and plums. Another part of the donation, 176 Kg of lemons, apples, pears and plums, was taken out on the 16th of Semptember and delivered in the Community-of-Light on the 19th.
Four areas of the Communty-of-Light of Figueira, located in the region of Carmo da Cachoeira, received the donations: the Sacred House of Brother Pio, the Sacred Heart, the Lands of the Fraternity and F3. The boxes of garlic were donated to the House of Saint Joseph, and distributed by the Missionaries of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, to the House for Elderly People and the hospital of Carmo da Cachoeira.
“It was a big surprise to all o fus, bcause many boxes of fruits of very good quality came. They came in a very good state, still a little green. So we left the fruits in the boxes and when we served them they were very tasty, with a one-hundred percent use, something very good. I can only thank them all”, said Melissa, the coordinator of the Sacred House of Brother Pio.
To the Lands of the Fraternity, a place of the Community-of-Light of Figueira where many youths are lodged and where 6 children and 4 families live, fruits such as nectarines, pears and peaches were donated.
“We received the fruits with a lot of warmth, because we know that it is difficult to manifest this kind of fruit as a donation. For the children, it is very important to have some food that is visibly attractive and with a good smell. They liked the fruits very much and we all were very grateful. The whole kitchen was invaded by a very good smell of fruit”, said Ananda, the coordinator of the Lands of the Fraternity.
