The training took place on July 2 at the NGO R3 Animal, located in the State Park of Rio Vermelho, in the city of Florianópolis, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The objective was the training and the qualification of volunteers for rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction of wild animals to their natural habitat. More than 40 people participated.

The lecture of training for volunteers makes possible the support to the R3 Animal by means of voluntary work, in the treatment and reintegration of the wild animals to nature. The NGO works to improve the wellbeing of each animal during the process of rehabilitation and after-liberation.

Friends, and members of the Network-of-Light groups of Florianópolis, Joinville, Balneário Camboriú and São Bento do Sul. Eight members of the Network-of-Light of Florianópolis assumed a weekly rhythm of voluntary service from Monday thru Friday, in the morning, at the NGO.

The intensification of the Works with the Animal Kingdom has been occurring after the launch of the book ‘Viver o Amor aos Cães’ (‘Living the Love for the Dogs’), by Ana Regina Nogueira, in the South of Brazil in the month of May of this year. During that month, many Network-of-Light groups of the region started assuming tasks of help to this Kingdom.

On the way back from the course, three members of the group had their first experience of rescue, with a wounded bird on the road.

‘We had the opportunity of rescuing it by taking it to the R3 Animal, where it was readily assisted. Even if it does not survive, as it was seriously wounded, it had the opportunity of receiving our attention and care in those few minutes’, said Flávia Santos, the coordinator of the Network-of-Light of the Southern Region.

‘Upon rescuing the bird, upon feeling its look that expressed fear, we could perceive a little of the dimension of the debt that humanity has to the Kingdoms of Nature. We perceived that serving is as necessary as praying and breathing, and that each little action of service is fundamental amidst the whole of this indifference’, said Lucia Sirangelo, the coordinator of the Network-of-Light of the Southern Region.

‘The training was a unique opportunity, considering specially the need of the Animal Kingdom, which is very big’, completed Flávia.
