The Network-of-Light group of Campinas, state of São Paulo, Brazil, conducted between July 25 and 30 a voluntary service in a kennel where they have been offering help since 2011. The kennel is located in the outskirts of town, next to a poor community and shelters 210 dogs.

Activities were done such as repairs in doors, gates, fences, floors, roofs and corridors. They also did an important cleaning activity around the kennel, leaving free spaces for movement.

“This voluntary group service has arisen from the need for a greater impulse for the shelter, in order to be able to solve several structural situations and so we created better working conditions and more quality of life for the animals. The participation of the group was very fluid and essential for the concretion of the whole planned task”, said Renato Goshima, a member of the Network-of-Light group of Campinas and coordinator of the voluntary group service.

In the last part of the service, the group gave baths to the animals.

“This work is a little offer to balance the situation of the Animal Kingdom, within which the canine species has a primordial function, especially with the Human Kingdom. A kennel concentrates animals that have been victims of mistreats and abandonment and is a reflex of the lack of human consciousness in the care of the animals. The work in these places is an offer of transmutation and fraternity to relieve, even if just a little, the animal suffering; and also an opportunity of learning about the unconditional love and fidelity that the dogs brings to us”, concluded Renato.
