Communications professionals in the studios of Misericórdia Maria TV

Just like health and education, communication is a fundamental human right recognized by international entities such as the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The right to communicate includes the right to access information and the right to produce and disseminate information. Therefore, it is essential in the formation of citizenship and in just and democratic decisions.

In Brazil, the law was officially recognized by the State in 2009 with the institution of the third edition of the National Program of Human Rights. In it, the rights to access and broadcast were presented as guiding principles in a contemporary approach to human rights.

Working toward achieving a more fraternal communication

The importance of the profession of journalist, among many, is that of inspecting and safeguarding society’s social and environmental justice mechanisms. Today, the 7th, is commemorated as the National Journalist Day.

“A free press is essential for peace, justice, and human rights for all,” defined by the secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres.

The communication team of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF) has volunteers committed to disseminating the work of the humanitarian organization that seeks, through strong ethical values, to guarantee human rights and respect for the kingdoms of nature. They are responsible for the production of videos, photographs and materials that portray the entity’s actions in all areas of activity.

To promote a culture of peace and a fraternal world, it is necessary that all sectors of society be involved – which is possible by the ethical, conscious, and responsible dissemination of information.

“Our mission as communicators is to provide information responsibly,” affirms the copywriter of the Humanitarian Fraternidade (FIHF), Alvaro Oliver, student of journalism. “While part of the missionaries are on the front line of our work, we collect information to keep the readers well informed,” he adds.
