From July 8 thru 10, the Meeting “In the Heart of Mount Shasta” took place in Mount Shasta, California, United States. The event gathered 18 participants, among members of the Network-of-Light of the United States that came from several cities of California, Florida and Oklahoma and also nuns of the Grace Mercy Order.
During the meeting, everyone received an exemplar of the first prayer book in English that is being launched by the Planetary Network-of-Light now. During the three days of the event, an intensive work of study, prayer and canticles was conducted, covering several places of the region.
‘We feel a great need of the group to gather in person, as the meetings of prayer that take place three times a week are always on the internet, due to the distance between the places where we live. Being able to promote this meeting is a blessing, because many inner impulses can be generated’, said Mother Constância, a nun of the Grace Mercy Order.
During the meeting, several actions were decided, such as the organization of monthly meetings on Saturdays, the creation of a schedule of prayer via Skype for the members who feel the need of prayers in Spanish, the creation of a blog of the Network-of-Light of North America, the deepening of the theme of the pilgrimage of the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe and the possibility of the promotion of meetings for youths.
‘We aspire to organize monthly meetings of the Network-of-Light in Mount Shasta for the brothers and sisters who live in the state of California and nearby cities and also for all the others who live in other states and who can come each month. We believe that these meetings can offer important encouragement to the unity of the group life and a warm opportunity of being very close to one another’, said Ana Sofia Varmaxidis, one of the Coordinators of the Network-of-Light of the United States.
