On February 15 and 16, the Missionaries of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF) participated in work done with the Kingdoms of Nature in the Terras da Unidade (Lands of Unity), in the Light-Community of Figueira, in Carmo da Cachoeira, MG, Brazil. This was the first module of the Missionary Academy, which had an introduction to the theory of the principles of the Missions on Saturday, and then fieldwork on Sunday.

In the Terras da Unidade, a work is done with the consciousness of the Kingdoms of Nature: Mineral, Plant, Animal, and Human Kingdoms. In this place, there is as little interference as possible with nature, specifically so that human beings can experience a way of collaborating with it, making it possible for them to recover from within themselves the experience of unity of the Human Kingdom with the other Kingdoms. This is achieved by  collaborating in a correct way with nature: learning from it.

The Mineral Kingdom reveals to us the balance, the synergy between elements, the soil, the water, the air, and the heat of the sun. The Plant Kingdom shows the correct relationship between the sky and earth, the harmonious growth toward the heights. The Animal Kingdom has many gifts that we lost throughout our development, such as spontaneity, purity, fidelity. Through this relationship with other beings, many things are gradually built in us, as well as dissolved in us. Things that used to hinder our personal process: the feeling of isolation and loneliness. Besides that, the missionaries learned to recover the value of collective and collaborative service, being useful for themselves and for the planet.

The Terras da Unidade do a silent and hidden work. There an attempt is made not to impose our human ideas on nature. There are no extensive cultivations nor common animal breeding. The greatest concern and feeling in us is the awareness of our unity with the Whole.

That experience in nature was a practical way for the Missionary Academy to demonstrate what had been studied in theory during the first day, which was the principles and attributes of the Missions. Much of what was studied in theory can be tested in fieldwork and contributes to the preparation of the group for the more demanding missions that are part of the activity of the International Humanitarian Fraternidade (FIHF). The Missionary Academy is a systemic and continuous training for participating in any missionary work, mainly in the Permanent Missions, where work is done in partnership with other international agencies.

The final reports, in the closing evaluation, demonstrated how impactful the work was for the whole group, and how solutions spontaneously emerged, in silence, as if a feeling of unity guided the movements and actions necessary for each situation.

The Missionary Experiences take place periodically; keep informed through the Portal of the Fraternidade or get in contact with the Secretary of Missions, in order to participate.
