Grupo de jovens leva música e alegria às crianças da periferia de São Carlos

The group of young people from the region of São Carlos brought music, art and many games to dozens of children of the neighborhood Antenor Garcia, in São Carlos. The youths of the city, as well as of Pirassununga, were gathered at the Nucleus of Rosa de Nazaré, an organization that does communal work with the families of the neighborhood, one of the most populated and vulnerable of the city.

The meeting was on March 15. The young people opened the activities with a real gift for the children, youths and adults that gathered at the site: a presentation of the choir, which filled the environment with joy. Afterwards, the young people divided into groups to lead the programmed activities for Sunday morning. The younger children went to the library and received  materials for coloring.

The older children had fun with a handicraft workshop. The first segment of the workshop was organized so that they could make puppets out of socks.

This novelty made the children happy. “The activity was very well received and the simplicity with which the children interacted was very dynamic. In the next workshop we will finish the puppets,” says Jéssica Andrade, who participated in the activities.

The service offered by the group of young people and by the Light-Nucleus of Figueira in São Carlos helps to reduce the social and cultural vulnerability of those who live in Antenor Garcia. According to studies done by masters at the Federal University of São Carlos, it is in this community that the lowest levels of education and income in the municipality are registered. The neighborhood is in a region known as Grande Cidade Aracy, which includes 3 other communities: the neighborhoods of Cidade Aracy 1 & 2 and the neighborhood of Presidente Collor.

The morning with the children, youths and adults ended with everyone having fun at the patio of the Nucleus Rosa de Nazaré, with streets games like jumping rope. After the activities, everyone shared a lunch offered by Maria Aparecida, of the Light-Network of São Carlos. “We feel in our hearts the joy of helping others, and in that contact with the children, we receive their purity and are fed with a lot of love, because since a child does not have masks, contact with them is very real,” concludes Lucas Delfino.

There will be 37 beds in the facility to provide charitable care for terminal patients. The proposal of the House of Saint Lazarus is to apply specific medical and technical knowledge, avoiding invasive, painful, and unnecessary procedures, in order to help them live the last stage of their lives with dignity, promoting pain control and psycho-spiritual and social support.
