The Instituto Boa Vista de Música (IBVM), which promotes social activities and free music learning in Boa Vista, Roraima, Brazil, is destining 200 vacancies to Venezuelan Indigenous children and adolescents in the Pintolandia and New Canaan Shelters, administered by Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF) in the city. At the beginning of June, the team of Fraternidade responsible for the sector of education in these shelters managed to make this partnership and the first classes have already been given this week.

On the 18th, in the first Workshop of Musicalization with teacher Martins, the participants could work rhythm, musical perception and motor coordination, the coordinators explain. And the class was open for the whole New Canaan Shelter, so that the families could know the project and experience it. On the following day, children and adolescents of the Pintolandia Shelter had classes in one of the two units of the IBVM that function near the Shelter.

The Institute is offering the children and adolescents free classes of the guitar, the flute, among other instruments, but on a first stage the work will focus on the teaching of rhythm and motor coordination. Music is an important part in the educational process, especially for psycho-emotional stabilization and strengthening of affective bonds of confidence in stressful situations.
