Art and Education project is developed in the building of the same name, located in the city of Carmo da Cachoeira, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and is part of the educational sector of the House of Light on the Hill, a branch of Fraternidade – Humanitarian International Federation., Last December, that Project held its year-end meeting in an environment of entirely ecumenical confraternization.

Unity in diversity

Art and Education groups children from different schools of Carmo da Cachoeira, neighboring cities, and adjacents areas, as well as families from different social strata, creeds, and ideologies.  Maria Helena de Paiva is in charge of the coordination of the Project. Maria Helena and the staff of collaborators managed to transform the unity of the daily activities into a sharing that extended in an artistic program besides significant samples of thanks and reflections that touched the heart of those present

Range of activities

The meeting opened with the words of Maria Helena de Paiva, who welcomed the present public and introduced the choir of Art and Education. Directed by members of the choir of the Communities-of-Light, the children beautifully interpreted the theme “Hallelujah”.

Later, an interactive space was opened, provided by a lady belonging to the volunteer team. She is Maria de Castro, who displayed the talent of story-telling. Through the original title “The Bed Grated”, Mz Castro developed a beautiful and dynamic narrative where each person in the audience became a character of the tale. The adults, distributed in groups of animals of the forest, enjoyed the participative tale like children. Once the story was over, the environment developed between songs performed by pairs of students of the extracurricular shift and solos, the choir of English classes and again the intervention of the Art and Education Choir.

Ecumenical Confraternization

Between one presentation and another, families, parents and students, in different ways expressed their gratitude to the coordinator and the work team.

“Thank you for your patience, thank you for the teaching, thank you for showing our children that above all there is a path of Peace, Light, Goodness because, in this world where we live, there is no other path”.

Anyway, Christian families provided reflections in the light of the Bible: “We are not perfect people, we are the ones who God created”, and the prayers, among which stood out “the blessing of children”. In the same way, the enthusiastic and respectful family focused on the Chaplet of Divine Mercy: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, Have Mercy on us and on the whole world”.

In an event deliberately designed to share there had to be present the delights of food and delicious candies that were exchanged. And then, without nothing more for the moment and with many achievements, the 2018 cycle was concluded in the Art and Education Project.
