Between May 17 and 19, the Solar Group, affiliated to the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, will promote the First Course for Children on First-Aid in the Community-of-Light of Figueira, in the area of the Lands of the Sun, in the town of Carmo da Cachoeira, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The course will put emphasis on natural emergencies, caused by natural phenomena, and technological emergencies, caused by activities developed by humans. The children will be instructed on basic first-aid and survival techniques, and also on emergency procedures in disasters.
In this first meeting, about fifteen children, ages from 7 thru 15, who reside in the Communities-of-Light, will participate.
This is the first time the Solar Group conducts the course specially directed to children, ‘It is important for the children to have the notion of what they can or not do in the face of a catastrophe, of an emergency, and how they can help the adults. They will be able to know how to act in an emergency situation’, said Helentiana de Paiva Gonçalves, one of the coordinators of the Solar Group.
