The Bazaar of Love arose from the need to share the love that is received in the Community-of-Light of the New Earth, located in Teresopolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “It is comprised of many donations that we monthly receive, including clothes, furniture, foods, toys, utensils, educational material, etc. Not everything we receive is in good shape. So, placing our tenderness and care, love and detail, everything transforms and is renewed, so that other families may benefit”, said Nadya Moia, a resident in the Community.
The Bazaar of Love attracts needy people from the whole rural region of the vicinity and also from very distant areas of that city. More than 100 people come to each bazaar, and it always occurs every two months. Everything is available as a donation, but there is the possibility of a spontaneous contribution and also of swapping, as many who frequent the bazaar are rural producers and end up giving some of their harvested products in exchange for items they need. Besides, the Bazaar of Love has health professionals for basic attendance and also has esthetics professionals for a haircut service.
It is an event that unites the whole Community-of-Light of the New Earth, from its preparation to its conclusion, a moment in which everyone experiences an opening of their heart for the act of sharing with love, without expecting anything in exchange.
