The Nucleus-of-Light of Figueira in Sao Paulo, Sacred House of Mary, Mother of Sao Paulo, has established a partnership with the Pastoral of Children and monthly conducts a task for the children in the region of Carapicuíba, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The Groups of Health and Healing and of Service, together with the Network-of-Light groups of Sao Paulo and nuns of the Monastery of the Grace Mercy Order supported the Pastoral of Children in a social action of child nutritional follow-up. This action prevents malnutrition and obesity in childhood. Through this follow-up, it is possible to determine, with greater precision, the nutritional diagnosis of the children, through the Body/Mass Index (BMI), which relates weight, height and age. From this diagnosis, the volunteers can intensify the guidelines to parents or responsible persons concerning a healthy feeding, the incentive to the practice of physical activity and the referral to some basic health unit, if necessary.
Depending on the date, commemorative feasts are held, such as Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Children’s Day, as a way to attract the presence of the families.
“These meetings are transformed in moments of loving fraternization among all groups and the assisted families”, tells Claudia Rimini. The service for the children turns out to be a blessing for all participants.
