Members of the Network-of-Light of Colombia organized a morning Christmas celebration with Venezuelan refugees in the city of Bogota. The activity took place on Christmas Eve in a colony composed of about 80 Venezuelan families, in the district of Bosa-Carbonell, in the Colombian capital.

The colony has the spiritual assistance of the pastors of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, who collaborated in the preparation and conduction of the feast. The place was especially decorated with globes and a printed image of Mary, Mother of the Divine Conception of the Trinity. There, the participants in the event offered a prayer of gratitude for the opportunity of this solidary meeting.

Then the volunteers entertained the children and the adults with a snack, gifts, raffles of food kits and other Christmas presents. About 35 children and 20 adults participated. Also presents and chocolate were given to be donated to other 25 children who were not present.

According to the Network-of-Light group of Colombia, the idea of organizing the event arose from the difficult reality that many Venezuelan face, when they have to leave their country seeking work or for health problems. They arrive in Bogota via the bus station, where they spend days waiting to find a place to lodge or the possibility of continuing the trip to other countries, such as Peru, Ecuador or Chile.

The Colombian volunteers highlighted that the meeting was notoriously marked by the energy of unity and fraternity, within an exercise of an ecumenical character. The meeting was an offering of the Network-of-Light of Colombia for the “Campaign for Peace”, of Association Mary.
