The Network-of-Light of Erechim, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, has been gathering weekly since 2016 to sew winter clothes and blankets for the dogs of the Francis of Assisi Park, located in the city of Lavras, and of the Community-of-Light of Figueira, in Carmo da Cachoeira, Minas Gerais.

The idea arose after the group was informed about the great amount of street dogs retrieved by the Francis of Assisi Park. The work of the Park touched the hearts of the members of the group, drew their attention and awakened their will to help.

Another objective of the group was that of contributing in balancing a Little the debt of the Human Kingdom to the Animal Kingdom.

Besides blankets for the dogs, two members of the group make crochet and tricot blankets for children, too.

The sewing meetings are held once or twice a week with the presence of six members of the Network-of-Light, and with the help of three sewing machines. The task begins with the reading of a message by the Divine Messengers (Jesus, Mary and Saint Joseph), followed by group prayer. Afterwards, the work extends for four hours, according to time availability.

So far, more than 140 pieces have been delivered, including blankets and clothes.

To Maria Angela Moratelli, the main objective of the task is “to bring lots of care, love, joy and gratitude. If through sewing we can feel all this, the energy becomes reciprocal and we unite to the Kingdoms”.

She adds, “From the choice of fabrics, to buying or receiving the donation we imagine the piece that will come out, the dog wearing it, frolicing. Will it fit it? Will it feel well, warm, care for? And we feel like embracing the piece, as if embracing someone inside it”.

According to Flavia Santos, who participates in the delivery of the pieces to the animals, “The love with which they are made is palpable and touching! The pieces get impregnated with a lot of love, they radiate a lot of love! They are gorgeous, perfumed! It looks like a baby’s outfit. The work of the group is very special”.
