House of the Children of Mary

On Sunday, October 15, the House of the Children of Mary – Our Lady of the Poor, together with the Missionaries of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation – and the Marian Center of Figueira conducted the 4th Meeting of Prayer and Canticles with the families of the town of Carmo da Cachoeira, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The House of the Children of Mary was founded in 2017 and, since its beginning, right after its consecration, began to conduct the service of prayer, with daily rhythms open to every person, without distinction of creed. The House has a secretary to attend the spiritual needs of all pilgrims and to offer guidance and support to those who come to Carmo da Cachoeira for the first time to visit the Marian Center of Figueira. The place also serves as a basis for the making and distribution of sacred objects (rosaries, scapulars, medals, wristbands, etc.) and of the garments of the Children of Mary.

Home visits

One of the tasks of the House of the Children of Mary are the home visits of prayer said with the families of Carmo da Cachoeira. The activity received a great impulse with the adhesion of the consecrated collaborators called Children of Mary. It was during these home visits that the families were invited to participate in another activity fostered by the House, which is the Meeting of Prayer, already in its fourth edition.

The activities related to the fourth Meeting of Prayer began at 3 p.m., at the room of prayer, where the teams prayed together the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Then they all left on a car convoy to fetch all the families that had enrolled to participate.

“We gradually form a a link of Light in the town at each house where we passed”, said the collaborator Rosa Linda.

The organization of the event had the participation and the integration of several sectors of the Community-of-Light of Figueira: the House of Light on the Hill, the Missionaries, the House of Our Lady of the Poor, collaborators and Children of Mary that reside in the town. According to the organizers, the participation has been growing at each meeting, especially of the minors. In this fourth event, about 70 people participated.

“The transportation of the families has been very special, as it is being conducted through the fraternal unity of the collaborators of Figueira, who offer seats in their cars and also by the vans loaned by the Fraternidade and by a collaborator”, explained Mother Ana Catalina.

Salutation of Peace in Christ

The destiny was the Marian Center of Figueira, about five kilometers from the center of the town of Carmo da Cachoeira. About 5 p.m., accompanied by a gorgeous sunset, the participants gathered in front of the statue of Mary, beside the belfry of the Marian Center. The group prayed a Mistery of the Rosary, participated in canticles and at the end made the salutation of “Peace in Christ”.

The House of the Children of Mary, Our Lady of the Poor, is located at 245, Padre Godinho St., in the town of Carmo da Cachoeira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is currently open for group prayer from Monday to Saturday, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and on Sundays at 9 a.m. and at 3 p.m.
