mutirao_clc_escola_apae_terapeutasThe House of Light on the Hill conducted last Saturday, June 18, a Voluntary Group Service of Assistance to the community of Carmo da Cachoeira, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. About 120 people, most of them children, participated in the activities with art, body works and health assistance.

mutirao_clc_escola_apae_animais1The group service took place in the School of Special Education (Escola de Educação Especial) Luciana Reis Vilela (APAE), in the neighborhood of Bom Retiro. The event lasted for the whole morning and counted on the participation of 35 volunteers of many specialties, such as theurapists, doctors, dentists and ophthalmologists. Assistance to 44 people of different ages was conducted. The attention to well-being and personal hygiene was also present, with more than 20 haircuts done.

The animals also received attention in the Group Service. Five were assisted, including one that had home assistance, as it could not move.

During the whole event there was music and distribution of juice and popcorn. The children participated the most in the activities. More than 70 children participated in the artisanship, drawing, painting and weaving workshops. Also a body work was done with the little ones and the youths, besides the exhibition of the film ‘Francis and the Wolf’.

The House of Light on the Hill, affiliated to the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, uses to conduct several Voluntary Group Services of free assistance to the community along the year.
