The professor Wilson Galhego Garcia, head of the UNESP – FOA, dentistry school of Araçatuba, in charge of the Happy Smile Project, arranged with Colgate to obtain 7,500 kits from the Dr. Dentuço program.
The kits were promptly taken from Diadema and transported to Boa Vista, on a flight of the FAB – Brazilian Air Forces, by the Brazilian Army – Operation Welcome, which is primarily responsible for health activities, including oral care, in the Venezuelan refugee shelters in Roraima.
In order to strengthen oral health care in beginning and early childhood, the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF), through the Roraima Mission, in partnership with the UNHCR and the Brazilian Army, will distribute the kits in the next few days.
This action will use an awareness raising approach with mothers, teachers, community agents, and health agents of Operation Welcome of the Army, so that there is a responsible continuity in the oral hygiene routine of the children and adolescents in the shelters.
The Fraternidade International (FIHF) wants to thank all partners and participants in this action for their involvement, efforts, and dedication, which will certainly prove of great benefit for those in the shelters.
