casa-luz-colina-coral-campo-belo-02The House of Light on the Hill, affiliated with the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, fosters beauty and harmony through choral singing in the city of Campo Belo, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The task has been developing for three years, with a choir that the House of Light on the Hill helped form within the City Hall.

With the name “Integra-Ação Choir”, its 12 members, town clerks and members of the civil society, rehearse every Monday, from 8 a.m. thru 11 a.m. At the beginning, volunteers from the House of Light on the Hill, from the town of Carmo da Cachoeira, used to travel weekly to give technical support with vocalization, theory and solfeggio, exercises and practice of several musical compositions. Nowadays this support takes place once a month. The last meeting occurred on October 3. The rehearsals happen in the Center of Specialized Reference of Social Assistance (CREAS), unit of the Secretary of Social Assistance of the City Hall of Campo Belo.

The Choir performs presentations in nursing homes, orphanages and public squares. It also participated in a cultural event that took place in the city Country Club, and in the National Choir Festival 2016 Caxambu-Baependi, that occurred in the month of August in Caxambu, Minas Gerais. “We have a calendar to sing and cheer people up. Society feelstouched by this energy, it feels that public power is capable of being united with society and this encourages us to go on with more and more force and dedication. Our repertoire includes exclusively songs that help promote peace and love in society”, commented Anália Maria Ferreira, the coordinator of the choir and Secretary of Social Assistance of the Municipality of Campo Belo.

Anália, who is also a collaborator with the Community-of-Light of Figueira, tells that the choir arose as a way to better integrate the city clerks so that they might offer more complete services and better quality to the citizens. “We are managing to integrate this group and to strengthen it in union and love, developing a work with much joy in the heart and a lot of confidence in God”, affirmed Anália.

Besides the musical rehearsals on Mondays, the group also works once a week, on Fridays, the spiritual integration by means of meetings of reflection, with the support of videos and audios. These experiences began last June. “We intend to expand the choir, each member inviting other people, we even think of creating two times of rehearsal, one in the morning and another one at night, to facilitate that other people, of all ages, may participate”, said Anália.
