The missionaries of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, who render services in the Greece Mission, conducted on January 10 and 11 tasks of support in the institution Caritas Hellas. The collaboration focused on the organization and distribution of clothes and toys. On the 13th, Thursday, they helped the preparation of a confraternization meeting that will take place today, Saturday, in an Orthodox Church with the Greeks and refugees that have lunch daily in this place.

On the 10th, the missionaries did the selection, harmonization and distribution of clothes and toys to the women and children that approached Caritas Hellas.

Men choose the pieces of clothes they will take

On the following day, a Wednesday, the missionaries split into two groups: one helped in the reception of the poor refugees and Greeks that arrived in the hall of distribution of clothes for donation. On this week day, exclusively dedicated to the attention to men, 66 of them were assisted. Through previous presentation of identification credentials conceded by the secretary of Caritas Hellas, they could choose coats, trousers, socks, gloves, caps, scarves and footwear.

Volunteers organize the donations

The second group of missionaries supported the selection and organization of the clothes stored in a central deposit of donations of the Catholic organization in Athens. The deposit is located in the  same block that the hall of attendance to the needy.

The pieces of clothes are organized according to these criteria: summer masculine, winter masculine, summer feminine, winter feminine, summer children and winter children.

On the same day, a group of youth volunteers coming from France joined the missionaries, who study Foreign Trade and a refugee from Somalia.

Lunch in the refectory of the Caritas Hellas

At noon, needy migrants and Greeks gathered in the refectory of Caritas Hellas for lunch. A handwritten sign in English drew the attention on one of the walls: “Do not work for food spoils you but for food that endures to eternal life”.

On the 13th, Friday, the missionaries of the Fraternidade went toa n Orthodox church with which they have kept contacts of cooperation for some time. The request made to the group was for it to prepare a confraternization lunch that the church will offer today, Saturday, to the Greeks and refugees that use to come to this place to receive the daily food. About 180 people are assisted every day.
