Volunteers of the House of Light on the Hill<\/a>, affiliated to the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation<\/strong>, have carried out a therapeutic task force in the city of Campo Belo, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. \u00a0Five health professionals and two assistants participated. Thirty-four people were attended.<\/p>\n

The aid is part of the cooperation that the House of Light on the Hill has been offering for 3 years to the Social Welfare Secretariat of Campo Belo County.\u00a0 At this time, the collaboration was offered on Oct. 13, Thursday, at the headquarters of the Municipal Secretariat.\u00a0 On this day, a team composed by one physician, two dentists, two therapists and two assistants left Carmo da Cachoeira up to Campo Belo, 80 kilometers away.\u00a0 It was also used the dental Van of the House of Light on the Hill, which has all the equipment needed for basic care in the field of oral health. The group arrived at the site of activities at 8:30am, organized the rooms\u00a0 and equipment, and started\u00a0 the attendance thatlasted from 9:00am to 13:00pm.<\/p>\n

The physician attended five people, using techniques of systemic acupuncture.\u00a0 Thirteen people experienced therapeutic services, helped with acupuncture (with needles and seeds), moxibustion, cupping therapy and other oriental techniques, while the dental Van received 16 patients. The thirty-four people assisted also received guidance on oral health, healthy food and proper use of medicinal plants and flowers to carry out the corresponding care.<\/p>\n

\"campo-belo-mutirao-terapeutico-13-10-2016-04\"<\/a>Many cases of depression and stress were detected, reflected in lower back and cervical pains and in other parts of the body.\u00a0 There was also assistance to patients with physical disabilities, constipation problems and a case of high-risk pregnancy.
\nBesides that, there was an emergency with a municipal worker who had suffered a lower back accident, being quickly assisted with acupuncture techniques and subtle medicines for pain.\u00a0 After that, the patient was taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n

Acupuncture is a branch of the traditional Chinese medicine.\u00a0 It prevents and treats malaises, aches and about 300 diseases by applying very thin needles in specific points on the body, allowing the person to return to mental, emotional and physical balance.\u00a0 The therapy can be localized or systemic (simultaneous treatment of various energetical points), depending on the severity or extent of the problem. It can be administered with other oriental techniques, as auriculotherapy (application of needles, seeds, pellets or other materials in specific points of the ears), the moxibustion (application of heat), cupping therapy (aplication of glasses and other materials to absorb the toxins, \u00a0stimulating the healing through the body itself and relieving pains).<\/p>\n

This therapeutic task force was the second one that happened at the Municipal Social Welfare Secretariat.\u00a0 In previous occasions, similar services were performed at the municipal garbage dump of the city, where several recyclers of waste were attended. The head of the social welfare department, Analia Maria Ferreira, mentioned that the objective was to help the employees of the social welfare area and the poor people regularly assisted by the institution.<\/p>\n
