During the week when the World Day of Water is celebrated, we present another example of good practices in the preservation of this resource essential to human life<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n

The united efforts in matters related to water, a natural essential resource for humanity, gained an international award. The collective initiative involves seventeen institutions, among them the\u00a0<\/span>Federal District Light-Network<\/a><\/span>, together with the\u00a0<\/span>Sacred Kingdoms Light-Nucleus<\/a><\/span>, affiliated with the\u00a0<\/span>Fraternity \u2013 International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF)<\/a><\/span>, and two hundred rural producers, under the coordination of the Water, Energy and Basic Sanitation Regulatory Agency of the Federal District (Adasa).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Programa<\/a><\/p>\n

It is about the\u00a0<\/span>Water Producer Program<\/a><\/span>, developed in the Ribeir\u00e3o Pipiripau Basin in the Federal District, that received second place in the international competition of\u00a0<\/span>Water Change-Maker Awards<\/a><\/span>, promoted by the\u00a0<\/span>Global Water Partnership (GWP)<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The award recognizes initiatives that promote socio-environmental changes from the perspective of water. Three hundred forty initiatives from eighty countries were submitted, twelve of which were considered. The announcement was made on January 25, during the\u00a0<\/span>2021 Climate Adaptation Summit<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Water Producer Program<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n

The program, implemented in 2011 by the National Agency of Waters (ANA), has the objective of encouraging the hydromineral recovery of the hydrographic basin of the Ribeir\u00e3o Pipiripau to promote an increase in the supply of water that serves about two hundred thousand inhabitants of the Federal District, in addition to improving the quality of the resource.<\/p>\n

The project must be presented during the United Nations Conference on Climate Change \u2013 the COP26, which will be held in November in Scotland.<\/p>\n

\"Programa<\/a><\/p>\n

The general manager of the\u00a0<\/span>Federal District Light-Network<\/a><\/span>, Marcelo Giovane Alves, responsible for the partnership with Adasa, says that the Pipiripau River is a boundary of the\u00a0<\/span>Nucleus<\/a><\/span>, and one of the tributaries crosses its land. He says that in return, just like the other partners, \u00a0the Nucleus receives the payment of an amount from Adasa for the environmental services provided in relation to the preservation of the springs. \u201cAfter the approval of the Permanent Guidance Council (CGP) in 2020, we changed our use plan by expanding the Legal Reserve area by more than 20%, and today we have a Permanent Preservation Area (PPA) and Legal Reserve with more than 11 hectares registered in the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR),\u201d explains Giovane.<\/span><\/p>\n
