Dozens of people volunteered for the task of clearing the land where the\u00a0Light-Nucleus of Figueira in S\u00e3o Carlos<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will build the House of Saint Lazarus, offering support and welcome to patients under palliative care.<\/p>\n

The group work took place on February 22, with a day of intense work for the volunteers and members of the Light-Network of S\u00e3o Carlos, who took on the clearing of four plots of land with a total of 1,400 sq. meters, where annexes and the premises of the House of Saint Lazarus will be built.<\/p>\n

The House will be built close to the Nucleus, in the neighborhood of Planalto Para\u00edso, in front of the Regynaldo Zavaglia Forest, an ecological park created in an Environmental Protection Area.<\/p>\n

Before picking up rakes, hoes, machetes and string trimmers to begin the activities, everyone gathered together to have a moment of silence in the woods.<\/p>\n

The coordinator of the Light-Nucleus, Mother Maria Cleonice, told those present that \u201cthis first foray was an offering so that the House of Saint Lazarus may be grounded in the unity and faithfulness among those who give of themselves to serve those who suffer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Also present was the general administrator of the\u00a0Fraternidade \u2013 International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF)<\/strong><\/a>, Friar Luciano, the executive secretary of the Fraternidade Humanit\u00e1ria (FIHF), Leda Garcia, and the secretary of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation of S\u00e3o Carlos, Jos\u00e9 Galizia Tundisi.<\/p>\n

Fernanda Janu\u00e1rio, one of the volunteers, agreed that it was very important to have a first contact with the future location of the House of Saint Lazarus: \u201cthe work that we did laid the foundation for our presence, opening the way for the building of this important work. It has confirmed and strengthened our faith that we are on the right path.\u201d<\/p>\n

The volunteer Juliana Leonardi was happy and impressed with the strength of the solidarity that she felt while participating in the group work: \u201cit is lovely to see this movement that leads souls to selfless service. It is a time of planetary chaos and a lack of optimism in humanity, and this opposite movement is extraordinary, with people \u2013 from children to the elderly \u2013 giving of their time and service. That type of experience expands our consciousnesses and is the true school where we learn about fraternity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Marina Cisotto, who participated with her husband and two children, Davi and Caio, said that they went through this experience with an open heart, recognizing the contribution to the process of education in the family journey.<\/p>\n

The group work done in the lands of the House of Saint Lazarus takes place on a monthly basis and the dates will always be published here on this News Site.<\/p>\n
