{"id":109622,"date":"2019-12-02T10:53:04","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T13:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/?p=109622"},"modified":"2019-12-02T10:53:04","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T13:53:04","slug":"jose-vasquez-and-education-in-an-emergency-context-uniting-intelligence-and-heart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/jose-vasquez-and-education-in-an-emergency-context-uniting-intelligence-and-heart\/","title":{"rendered":"Jos\u00e9 Vasquez and Education in an Emergency Context \u2013 \u201cUniting Intelligence and Heart\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jos\u00e9 Vasquez, an ex-consultant of the <strong>UNICEF<\/strong> for 29 years, participated in 2018 in Roraima with humanitarian responses in emergency situations, for the protection of rights and the education of children and adolescents.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-shortcode\"><iframe title=\"Jos\u00e9 Vasquez e a educa\u00e7\u00e3o em contexto de emerg\u00eancia - \u201cunir intelig\u00eancia e cora\u00e7\u00e3o&quot; - PT\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/etOGxf3Y-JA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>There, he learned about and joined the work of support to the Venezuelan refugee immigrant population, which the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/\"><strong>Fraternidade \u2013 International Humanitarian Federation FIHF<\/strong><\/a> carries out together with other organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The atmosphere created there had the objective of fostering the emotional recovery and the protection of rights for children, through recreational activities and those of immersion into the public educational system.<\/p>\n<p>Jos\u00e9 tells that, differently from the interventions in emergency situations in which he had participated before, resulting from earthquakes, for example, this situation of the Venezuelan refugees has a growing characteristic to it and demands a different response.<\/p>\n<p>Upon seeing the possibility of adjusting the norms, with efficiency in this situation, and witnessing the action of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/\"><strong>Fraternidade International FIHF<\/strong><\/a> and the other organizations, Jos\u00e9 became interested in participating in the O Bem Comum Project (The Common Good) \u2013 of Education and Protection of Venezuelan children and adolescents, in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/\"><strong>FIHF<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe must simplify institutions, when it comes to the response to children, adolescents and families. Because it is the children that suffer the most, because they do not understand what is happening\u201d, <\/em>he comments.<\/p>\n<p>From this experience together, Jos\u00e9 was invited to bring his talk about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cS_JrUil9pI&amp;list=PLXq1dWdytmgwyl4tFZSamZcMRn9nZtslg&amp;index=5&amp;t=3902s\">\u201c<strong>What Education is in an Emergency Context<\/strong>\u201d<\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLXq1dWdytmgwyl4tFZSamZcMRn9nZtslg\"><strong>Seminar on Education in Emergency Situations and Humanitarian Responses<\/strong><\/a>, which took place between October 31 and November 3 in Carmo da Cachoeira, MG, Brazil, in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comunidadefigueira.org.br\/portal\/en\/\"><strong>Light-Community of Figueira<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201c<em>rather than sharing experience, I went to share learning that I have been having in this time<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Feeling as \u201c<em>part of a family<\/em>\u201d, Jos\u00e9 left the event \u201c<em>nourished with experiences<\/em>\u201d, he says, touched.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/\"><strong>Fraternidade International FIHF<\/strong><\/a> keeps developing and deepening educational activities in Roraima, Manaus and Colombia, in the context of the humanitarian response to the Venezuelans.
