\u201cIf the bees disappeared from the face of the Earth, humanity would have only another four years of existence. Without bees there is no pollination, there is no reproduction of flora, without flora there are no animals, there will be no human race\u201d<\/em>, said the physicist Albert Einstein.<\/p>\n

One of the geniuses of humanity, who lived between 1879 and 1955, perhaps Einstein was predicting that bees would run a serious extinction risk in the twentieth century, as they actually are, specially affected by the excessive use of pesticides in crops. In Brazil, one of the biggest world producers of food and also one of the greatest global consumers of pesticides, the situation is alarming.<\/p>\n

It is by means of pollination, a process carried out by bees, that about 80% of plants reproduce themselves; and about two-thirds of plants consumed by human beings depend on it.<\/p>\n
