A symbolic tree

Four individuals wanted to see a symbolic and very famous tree. Someone, who knew it well, offered to lead them to it, one at a time. He took the first during winter, when the tree only had trunks and branches, as the leaves had all fallen. After some time, he took the second, and, as it was spring, the leaves were beginning to sprout. Then, it summertime, he took the third one, and he saw the blooming tree. Then, in fall, he took the fourth, who saw it full of fruits.

The guide

After these visits, the guide gathered the four of them and asked them to describe the tree. The first one said he was surprised that it was so famous, as he saw nothing, but bare branches. The second said it was a normal tree, with some leaves, but without notable qualities. The third said it was a very beautiful plant, with flowers full of life and the fourth said the tree really deserved the fame it had: its fruits were abundant and of great value.

Common mind sees in a partial way
At each moment, things change

Some refer to this story to illustrate how common mind sees in a partial way. At each moment, things change, and even so, the mind continues to define them according to what it is capable of learning with its scarce resources. The soul, on its turn, knows that nothing is fixed, and when it talks with us, it demonstrates the universality of its perspectives. When it gives a sign about something, it does it as a synthesis. In the case of the tree, the soul would see at once the diverse states of the plant, complete and freed from what is superfluous.

When we are free from the control of the physical brain, and, therefore, in conditions of penetrating broader realities, the commonplace attitude with which we face the situations disappears. By means of dreams, we know a world to which the common senses do not have access.

A symbol

In order to communicate with us, the soul utilizes elements of our own memory. For this reason, a symbol perceived by an individual is generally adequate only for them. If upon seeing a symbol, I ask a common analyst to interpret it, I may reach the most diverse and interesting readings of this symbol. However, the shortest path and without a doubt, the most correct path, is to make silence before what I have seen, to turn to the center of my being and to wait for the meaning to come from there. This is because, in some occasions, the soul uses symbols that concern our inner spiritual experience. In this case, only we can have access to the true meaning of them.

The way the soul acts is different from the way the personality acts. The personality measures based on its own experience. The soul, as it brings with itself the experience of a high, subtle level, and the wisdom of the level in which it lives, shows a situation that takes into account a much broader and encompassing part of the creation and of the worlds that the mind can conceive. When it shows, for example, by means of a dream, that someone is in the dark, the soul does this without excluding it from the totality of life and without exempting us from the responsibility for what may be happening to it. As life is a totality, there is no situation of someone else that does not concern us, and neither is there any act of ours, whether physical, emotional or mental, that does not reflect positively or negatively on the others.

This is the universal point of view of the soul
If we receptive to it, we will learn
to be more encompassing and compassionate
