Port of Santos

At the beginning of August, Rosi Freitas, of the Network-of-Light group of Guarujá, decided to call the port terminals in Santos, to be informed if there was any donation of food available. The activity is part of the routine of the group, which uses to receive donations from the program of the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil, that refers  to philanthropic institutions food of excellent quality called “Excess Food Samples”.

“Normally, they call us and ask us to fetch the donations, but this time we tried to risk the ‘yes’, as we already had the ‘no’”, tells Rosi.

And the result was positive. 230 kg of very selected fruits altogether (nectarines, plums, peaches and pears), of first quality that were loaded in the pickup truck that is a companion of the tasks, under the name of “Peace”. The destiny of the donations was the Community-of-Light of Figueira, located in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

“It was a great joy to fetch such rare and special fruits for the brothers and sisters in the Communities-of-Light, and, due to their high cost, they would not have how to purchase them and offer to its residents, as the Communities live on donations. They celebrated it and became very happy to be able to taste them”.

Receiving the food items

According to Zara – a resident of the Community-of-Light of Figueira, responsible for the reception and distribution of food among its various areas, “The first thing I see is that the law of Manifestation never fails. When we need something, it always comes. And the fruits are wonderful, first quality. It was interesting that I distributed, distributed, and it never ended”.

After the first donation made by the port terminals, the Network-of-Light group of Guarujá was contacted by one of the terminals of the Port of Santos to pick more than 480 kg of fruits and vegetables, such as garlic, pears, lemons, oranges and kiwis. Wanderley Freitas, a member of the Network-of-Light of Guarujá, fetched the donations and was happy to see so many boxes. “We counted 96 boxes only of lemons! 78 boxes were delivered in the Community of Figueira and 18 boxes were distributed in the Community of Morrinhos, in Guarujá”.

As he could not take the food to the Community-of-Light of Figueira, a part of the donations was referred to a group of Pilgrims in São Paulo which was going to the Marian Center of Figueira and another part was distributed to the 60 families registered in the Community of Morrinhos IV.

Distribution in Morrinhos IV

The Community of Morrinhos IV is located in Guarujá, and since 2014 its neediest families have been receiving help from the group by means of several kinds of donations. This time 60 kg of onions and 20 kg of garlic were distributed, as part of the food raised in the Port of Santos via Ministry of Agriculture. Besides these foods, the group donated greens, vegetables and fruits received from a local commerce.

“It was a blessing, a gift from Heavens to be able to take this donation to the pilgrims. Even though I could not make this trip, I felt very united to all in this Celebration of Love. And it was a real joy to learn that the pilgrims could take the fruits of our Mother Nature to supply the needs of the Community-of-Light”, said Wanderley.
