Nineteenth Mission – February 2017. Zona da Mata, Brazil
Eighteenth Mission – February 2017. Chile, South America
Complying with a request of the Virgin Mary, the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation – prepared the Emergency Chile Mission, to help this nation deeply affected by fires of great proportions that burn during months thousands of hectares. The group was integrated by Missionaries of the Fraternidade, Monastics of the Grace Mercy Order and members of the Planetary Mission Network.
The first stage of the mission had as main characteristic to take sustenance and hope through humanitarian service and prayer. Its activities were conducted in the region of O’Higgins, where the group collaborated with a Shelter of rescued Animals, victims of the fires.
In the second stage of the mission, the group went to the region of Maule, to give humanitarian support in the cities of San Javier, Constitución and Santa Olga. The work consisted mainly in the organization of the donations and in the support and rebuilding of the houses, including places that had not received any kind of assistance after the fires yet.
Seventeenth Mission – November 2016. Roraima, Brazil – PERMANENT MISSION
The Humanitarian Roraima Mission began in November 2016 and continues to this day as a Permanent Mission conducted by the Fraternidade and composed by Missionaries of the Fraternidade, members of the Network-of-Light and monastics of the Grace Mercy Order.
The objective is to render humanitarian, material and spiritual help to the refugees of several countries: the majorities of them come from Venezuela. They come to Brazil aiming to survive and seeking better living conditions. Hundreds of Venezuelan Indigenous and non Indigenous people enter Brazil across the border of Pacaraima, in Roraima, with long walks through the jungle. As in their country of origin they face economical and social difficulties, stemming from lack of jobs, food, basic products of hygiene and health.
The members of the mission have proved, by means of donations and of voluntary works, provisions and meals, refuge, health services, artistic activities, Portugueese, Spanish and Warao classes, recreational activities, help in the insertion in the job market and incentive for the manifestation of the Warao Indigenous culture. A great part of the activities took place in the city of Boa Vista, a place where many refugees live.
Sixteenth Mission – September 2016. Greece – PERMANENT MISSION
The Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation – has founded a headquarters and a permanent base in Greece, Europe, with the purpose of offering humanitarian assistance to refugees from various parts of the Middle East, Africa and other parts of the world, who arrive in the European continent after crossing the Mediterranean Sea, to run away from wars and precarious conditions of existence in their countries of origin.
Initially the group was formed by 5 missionaries of the Fraternidade, who remained in the Missionary Base of Greece for 3 months. After this period, they were replaced by the second group composed of 4 missionaries. The mission has become permanent and the missionaries continue alternating themselves on this task.
The mission established contacts with the Brazilian Embassy in Greece, the local Orthodox Church, the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and the Caritas Greece Refugee Program. Together with the other missionaries and volunteers, they serve in the task of raising and distributing donations to refugees, who include children, women, men or prisioners in refugee camps and the destitute Greeks, giving attention and serving them in what is necessary.
Fifteenth Mission – June and July 2016. Ciudad del Este, Paraguay
The twelth Humanitarian Mission of the Fraternidade extended from June 20 thru July 7, 2016. Twenty missionaries worked in the Paraguay Mission, serving in three communities of the Mbya Guarani and Ava Guarani peoples. Members of the Network-of-Light of Paraguay, of Iguassu Foz and Santa Teresinha (Brazil) and Porto Iguassu and Posadas (Argentina) joined them, and will give continuity to the tasks. Students of dentistry from a local university also participated.
These indigenous people extract their sustenance from the collection of recyclable trash in trash dumps, and live in a very precarious situation. They had several skin and respiratory pathologies.
The missionaries of peace distributed food, medicines, clothes, blankets, toothbrushes and educational material. They conducted medical and dental services, haircut and playful activities. They made ramps for the water wells, built lids for the wells, collected wood for the building of a house of prayer, repaired some houses, did group service for the harmonization of the settlements, introduced the solar kitchen. Pure seeds were shared, taken from the Community-of-Light of Figueira.
Fourteenth Mission – May and June, 2016. Dolores, Uruguay
The Uruguay Mission, eleventh mission of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, lasted 33 days. Eight missionaries left the Community-of-Light Figueira, Minas Gerais, Brazil, on May 02, 2016, and returned on June 08, 2016.
The mission had as its main focus the Humanitarian Service in Dolores, Uruguay. A tornado destroyed part of the city and intensely affected its inhabitants. During the 13 days the missionaries acted in the warehouse arregement that focuses all donations received; in the distribution of donations, in the arrangement of the place used to provides assistance for the population, and supporting housing reconstruction.
Then they went to Community-of-Light of Fraternity, Uruguay, and to Community-of-Light Brotherhood, in Argentina, which provided services and cooperated with several tasks.

Thirteenth Mission – January and February 2016. Chaco, Argentina – RECURRENT
The group that performed the Chaco Mission arrived at the Community of the Brotherhood on January 18; on day 19 they started the training and finished the preparation for the mission. Composed by twenty-one Missionaries of Peace, among whom seven monks of the Grace Mercy Order, one resident and one permanent collaborator of the Community of the Brotherhood, besides twelve members of the Network-of-Light of Argentina, Uruguay and Brasil.
The group also counted with the support of the Network-of-Light of Resistencia, which prepared the arrival of the group to the native communities, took care of the food, of the donations, of the lodging and of all logistics.
About 120 families in five communities and neighborhoods were attended. Medical, dental and nurse services were offered. Urgent attendance and feeding was provided. Basic needs of personal and oral hygiene, besides haircut were met.
Twelfth Mission – January, February and March 2016. Turkey
“Only Love can cure the pain”. In this mission, 14 Missionaries of Peace rendered services in Turkey, between January 19 and February 28. They served refugees from Syria and also from Iran, Irak, Sudan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Palestine and other countries. They worked in seven cities: Ankara, Gaziantep, Nidge, Adana, Mugla, Izmir (Smirna) and Istambul. They worked in cooperation with the ASAM – the Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants.
They assisted children and adults on the streets, in homes, in communities and in units of the ASAM. They performed assistance and gave instructions on general and oral health and herapeutic assistance. They helped load trucks with material for donations, distributed kits sent by the UN, provisions, clothes, footwear, blankets and cleaning material. They donated dehydrated food and offered materials for the workshops, brought from Brazil. They guided the building of solar kitchens and transmitted notions on electricity. They distributed cards with credits, which cover some needs and confirmed data of the refugees. They worked together with a group of Marine, which operates rescue of castaways and drowning refugees. They performed activities of modeling, artisanship and workshops with the children, and painted panels together. The teachers and officers joined these situations and an atmosphere of fraternity and joy was created, which transcended cultural and language barriers.
Eleventh Mission – December 2015. Mariana, Brazil
Facing the biggest environmental disaster that has taken place in Brazil, due to the spillage of 40 billion liters of tailings, leaving a track of deaths and destruction, the objective of this mission has been supporting the emergency attendance and the relieve of the suffering of several animals.
Besides the Missionaries of Peace and the Solar Group, the Mission, which lasted for three days, counted with the participation of specialists in animal attendance of the House Light on the Hill. The team performed rescues of oxen, cows and horses stuck in the mud, followed by treatment and referral. In the same way, smaller animals were treated, such as dogs and cats, which were also in state of shock, traumatized some of them with serious wounds.
The team also mobilized itself to support the organization and logistics of the infrastructure of rescue and attendance.

Seventh Mission – November 2014. Northeastern Brazil, Alagoas – RECURRENT
The mission consisted of a group formed by seven nuns of the Monastery of the Christic Charity of the Grace Mercy Order, eight Missionaries of Peace of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation and four collaborators from the Network-of-Light North-Northeast.
The group served in eight communities of the poor and arid countryside of the state of Alagoas, in the Northeastern region of Brazil, and the work was carried out in joint effort with the Institution Caritas Diocesana.
The services were very diverse, including prayers and chanting, medical and dental procedures, group talks, playful activities, treatment to animals and workshops.
Sixth Mission: January 2014. Carmo da Cachoeira, Brazil – PERMANENT
The missionaries of the Fraternidade, with the help of collaborators, carry out activities of material and spiritual assistance in the city of Carmo da Cachoeira, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and also in some neighboring towns.
Carmo da Cachoeira is the town where the headquarters of the Fraternidade and also the Community-of-Light of Figueira are located.
The work of this permanent mission includes the distribution of clothes, foods, utensils, attendance and health referrals, among others. Families, street dweller people, chemical-addicted, sick people, elderly, children and animals.
Fifth Mission – April 2013. Kenya, Africa
This time the Missionaries of Peace returned once more to Ethiopia and from there they left to Kenya.
The ten members of this new mission also joined the task of service carried out by the Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta in both countries. This mission lasted for more than 30 days.
Fourth Mission – February 2013. Ethiopia, Africa
The fourth mission took place in Ethiopia, in the same place where the mission of November 2012 was carried out. In this mission, there took place a deepening in the contact with the Sisters Missionaries of Charity and the scope of the tasks was broader.
Third Mission – November 2012. Ethiopia, Africa
In this mission, the group consisted of 15 Missionaries of Peace, who, once again, joined the Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, in the city of Addis Ababa.
The tasks were concentrated in a shelter of the Sisters of Charity, the largest house of the Sisters in the world, one which takes care of around 1000 people, the majority of whom have serious illnesses, including many terminal cases.
There, the missionaries assisted with all practical activities, and also participated in the daily liturgy. The same house of service received, some months later, the next group of Missionaries of Peace, which consisted of 16 people, who left to Ethiopia on February 4th, 2013.
Second Mission – July 2012. Nicaragua, Central America
The second mission consisted of a group of five Missionaries of Peace, who supported the work of the Sisters of Charities in Managua, performed in different places and, especially, on the streets, at a hospital and a prison
First Mission – October 2011. Nepal, Asia
This mission was carried out by a group formed by monks of the Grace Mercy Order, by residents of the Communities-of-Light and by other volunteers who supported the services conducted by the Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, in several places in the city of Katmandu. The Missionaries of Peace also performed tasks in an institution where 250 people live who had been abandoned by their families and taken from the streets. In addition, the Missionaries of Peace worked at a cancer hospital and an orphanage.
