Recently founded, on January 10, 2017, the Network-of-Light of Palmas has been focusing its work in prayerful service and in the dissemination of the Campaign for Peace. The group monthly conducts the project “Prayer in the homes”, on the third Thursday of the month, and the project “Praying with Christ of the Sick, on the third Saturday of each month. Palmas is the capital of the state of Tocantins, located in the Northern region of Brazil.

Prayer in the homes

The coordinator of the Network-of-Light of Palmas, Luiz Melchiades, informed that “Prayer in the homes” arose inspired in a similar initiative conducted by a group of youths of Santa Catarina. “We got information of this work of prayer in the homes, which takes place weekly in Florianópolis. With this, the impulse came to do the same in Palmas. It is an opportunity of practicing the exercise of prayer with people who do not necessarily are part of the Network-of-Light, but who feel that this is a path that must be trodden”, he explained.

Prayer

At the beginning, the work was done with prayers repeated by the participants, and the musical part was reproduced electronically. But about two months ago, the members of the group decided to learn the songs chanted by the choirs that accompany the Apparitions of the Divine Messengers. “The live music in the work brought an entirely new energy, of more introspection, of more surrender and of confirmation of the very prayer that is said through the chanting”, reflected the coordinator.

Praying with the Christ of the Sick

The idea of conducting the prayerful service in the main hospital of the city arose right after the creation of the Network-of-Light of Palmas, but only in July did the group manage to make the first edition of the Project. The work takes place in the Ecumenical Chapel of the General Hospital of Palmas, on the third Saturday of the month, around 3 p.m.

According to Walério Andrade, a member of the Network-of-Light of Palmas, prayer and music bring the energy of the Mercy of Christ. “We clamor for the Mercy of Christ, to strengthen the faith of those recovered and to alleviate the pain, the anguishes and the sufferings of the sick”, he explained.

The repercussion of the Project was so positive that the Group considers expanding the “Praying with the Christ of the Sick” to other hospitals of the city.

Campaign for Peace

The Network-of-Light of Palmas conducted in June the first Campaign for Peace in the city. It took place during an ecumenical event in the district of Taquaruçu, called “A Movement for Life”.

According to Isabel Etges, who also coordinates the Network-of-Light of Palmas, the stand organized by the group had artisanship objects with a Christian theme, besides the presentation of víideos and information leaflets of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, of the Community-of-Light of Figueira and of the Community-of-Light of the New Earth. “Many participants in the event visited the stand and could learn more about the work conducted by the Fraternidade and also about the Pilgrimage for Peace in Europe, which was taking place at that moment. One visitor even told us that she wanted to visit the Community-of-Light of the New Earth, and that the information transmitted gave her an impulse for her to make this intention come true”, commented Isabel.

Diffusion

Besides disseminating the work of music and prayer conducted by Association Mary and by the Grace Mercy Order, and making better known the whole work of the Fraternidade and of the Communities-of-Light, the Campaign for Peace is a simple way to raise funds that are destined to the continuity of the work itself. For this reason, the Network-of-Light of Palmas is considering other opportunities of making a new edition of the Campaign for Peace in the city.
