FRANCISCO DE ASSIS PARK
Minas Gerais, BraZil
The Francisco de Assis Park was founded in 2010 on the margins of BR 265, km 341, in Lavras, Minas Gerais (Brazil). Since its commencement, this nonprofit institution, maintained by donations and voluntary work, acts to protect animals and preserve the environment, through programs of education and continuous provision of services.
Built on the rubble of a deactivated slaughterhouse of cattle and pigs, the kennel maintained by Francisco de Assis Park, in Lavras, shelters an average 360 dogs, who previously lived abandoned in the streets, sick and abused, and currently they are cared for with much affection. The park also promotes regular adoption campaigns to find safe and loving homes for the furry ones.
Throughout these years of operation, the park has become a reference in the protection of animals: it regularly receives the visit of institutions from various parts of Brazil, wishing to develop similar work; And it has been the preferred institution of several universities and health education establishments to train partnerships that benefit teachers, students and especially dogs – always kept healthy.
