A table with a schedule of prayer was created in the CRI – Center of Reference for the Immigrant.

On Monday, 17, it was noticed that the cleaning of the CRI, conducted by the refugees, has improved. New trashcans will be spread throughout the shelter to collaborate with the cleaning of the place.

A group remained in charge of making the census, gathering information from the refugees. They also received those who arrived in the shelter. Another group organized the work in the kitchen. A third team organized the storage place where the provisions of the shelter are kept.

Raising of donations of food at the supermarkets of the city of Boa Vista.

A child, with symptoms of vomit and diarrhea, was taken to the child hospital, where it was treated of an indigestion.

During the week, workshops of languages, artisanship,  drawing and recreation with children were organized in the CRI.

On Wednesday, 19, the census conducted at the beginning of the week was revised and it was detected that the number of refugees in the CRI has increased to about 250 people.

Donation of several fruits was  received and distributed in the CRI. New refugee families, with ill-nourished women and many children, arrived in the CRI and were received, also by the Indigenous leaders.

On Thursday, 20, the distribution of food to 150 families that live in different places of Boa Vista took place. The distribution happened in the CRI, in the House of Saint Joseph and in the Nucleus-of-Light of Figueira in Roraima.

Meetings were conducted with several institutions that explained to the refugees how to obtain the Work Card. Students of the UFRR (Federal University of Roraima) also helped the Waraos produce a dossier, with about 25 pages of information, to request refuge in Brazil. “These works have really helped the refugees and their families to obtain  the documents they need. Many already have the necessary documents to have residence in the country”, said Teresa, a missionary of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation.

Improvements in the electric, hydrological and sewage systems are being made.

On Friday, 21, a meeting was held to discuss improvements of co-existence among the refugees in the shelter.

The Fire Brigade of Boa Vista offers continuous support to the missionaries of the Fraternidade in the work with the refugees in the CRI.
“We receive a different fireperson every day, and they have an attitud of absolute availability, they are like missionary firepersons. They take us and bring us back, collaborate in the raising of donations and are always available and in a fantastic attitude. We are very grateful to them”, said Teresa.
